As of December 2023, the DOC of Philadelphia reported a total residential population of 40,425. The bed availability 43,773 and today the jail/prison system is 89% filled.
The Sheriff’s department is led by Sheriff Rochelle Bilal who can be reached at 100 South Broad Street 5th Floor. Phone 215-686-3559. “The Office of the Sheriff, City and County of Philadelphia is committed to serving and protecting the lives, property and rights of all within a framework of high ethical standards and professional conduct at all times.” There are 400 employees of the sheriff’s department including officers and staff.

The Philadelphia Department of Prisons provides a secure correctional environment to maintain inmates accused or convicted of illegal acts. There are four prison facilities in Philadelphia County. Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, The Detention Center, Philadelphia Industrial Correctinal Center, and Riverside Correctional Facility.

The location of an inmate does not indicate the type of treatment the person is receiving. Information is updated on a daily basis.
