Marriage Records are maintained by the Marriage License Clerk in the county courthouse of Philadelphia County. You can also find records in church records and newspapers of the era. Philadelphia County or City if you know:
- The names of both parties
- The date of the Marriage.
Depending on the type of copy you want the fees are $25 for a certified copy or $50 for an exemplified copy, which is often used for international purposes. If you request records by mail, there will be a $15 research fee. Marriage license copies from 1995 or later can be found on the online marriage record search. You will need the names, marriage license number and the date of the marriage.
Certified Divorce Decrees can be obtained in the Office of Judicial Records Civil Filing Unit, phone 215-686-2530, Room 296, City Hall. You can obtain the copy over the counter or by written request. If written request is submitted by USPS the following information must be provided:
- Name of both husband and wife
- Exact year of divorce – or a 5-years window
- Self-addressed stamped envelope and money order or certified check in the amount of $41.58 payable to Office of Judicial Records.
- Cash is accepted over the counter.
Requests are not accepted after 4:30 pm.
